Eating Out

Toronto is one of the most diverse eating cities in North America, and the easiest way to eat well is to follow its communities. Chinatown along Spadina and the dumpling houses around it, Greektown on the Danforth, Little India on Gerrard, Little Italy on College, the Portuguese and Latin American spots near Kensington, and the Caribbean kitchens scattered across the city all deliver the real thing at fair prices.

Kensington Market is the best single place to graze — jerk, tacos, empanadas, and cheap eats packed into a few blocks. For something smarter, Yorkville and the financial district hold the city's marquee dining rooms, while Queen West and Ossington are where the chef-driven small rooms cluster. St. Lawrence Market is the place to assemble a picnic, peameal-bacon sandwich included.
