Hemmingford is a small village and township south of Montreal, close to the New York border. The village itself is quiet, but the surrounding countryside has a clear day-trip identity: apple orchards, ice cider, a big family safari park, and outdoor trails at Saint-Bernard.
The place clears the bar because its attractions are rural rather than civic. Parc Safari is the obvious family draw, while Verger Hemmingford, Vignoble le Chat Botte, and Parc Regional Saint-Bernard make the area more than a one-attraction stop.
Come by car and think of Hemmingford as orchard country, not as a town to wander for hours. It is at its best in late summer and autumn, when cider, fruit, and country roads do most of the work.
