Elmslie Memorial Church

The largest Presbyterian (now United) church on the islands, on Harbour Drive opposite the cruise terminal. Built in 1922 of cut coral stone and named for an early Scottish missionary, the church combines a vernacular Caribbean wood-shingle roof with an interior nave shaped like an upturned ship's hull — a deliberate reference to the seafaring trade that built the islands.

Worth a five-minute look inside. The cemetery alongside has the headstones of many of the great Caymanian sea-captain families, with their schooners carved into the stone.
