Nogui's has been at the south end of the beach since 1974, before the boom — a casual open-air spot with plastic chairs, blackboard menus, and a constant breeze off the Pacific. The cooking is unfussy Costa Rican beach fare: grilled fish, ceviche, casados, fish tacos, a serious burger. The coconut cream pie at the end of the meal has its own minor cult following.
Prices are mid-range and portions are generous. Open all day from breakfast through dinner. It is the easiest place in Tamarindo to stop for a meal between waves — sandy feet welcome.
