While the Río Pacuare is Turrialba's headline rafting river, the Río Reventazón also offers excellent whitewater and a very different experience. The Pacuare section is a full-day (or multi-day) jungle gorge run; the Reventazón is faster, more technical, and can be run in a half-day. The Class IV–V Florida section drops through a narrow canyon with powerful hydraulics.
Several outfitters in Turrialba run trips on both rivers, and most will let you choose the difficulty level that matches your group's experience. The Reventazón is better suited to intermediate and experienced paddlers; beginners should stick to the Pacuare. Check water levels before booking — the Reventazón is affected by dam release schedules upstream.
