A central park in the Pueblo Nuevo neighbourhood, one of the main gathering places for residents outside the historic centre. The park is planted with large trees and has the unhurried feel of a neighbourhood square rather than a tourist attraction — benches occupied by older residents, children playing in the afternoon, and occasional small performances.
The neighbourhood around the park preserves some of the city's older residential architecture. Good for a walk if you want to see Matanzas away from the main historic sights. Several good casas particulares are located on streets within a few blocks.
