The near-vertical faces of the mogotes are a genuine rock-climbing challenge. The rough limestone surface gives better grip than it looks, and routes of varying difficulty have been established. Local guides can arrange equipment and lead climbs.
Most routes top out with views over the valley's tobacco fields and the ridgeline beyond. The best season for climbing is November through March, when temperatures and humidity are lower.
