Things to Do

Miches is a town for beach walkers and nature explorers, not resort loungers. The long wild coast stretching south toward Punta Cana and north toward Samaná is the main draw. Playa Esmeralda and Playa Limón are the standout beaches — both long, undeveloped, palm-backed strands that see very few visitors even in high season.

The two coastal lagoons, Laguna Redonda and Laguna Limón, are worth a half-day by boat. Montana Redonda, a hill rising above the municipality, has become famous for a swing suspended from a tree at its summit with views over Samaná Bay and the Cordillera Oriental. The surrounding forests and river valleys of El Cedro are the real back-country destination, but you will need a guide to navigate them properly.
