El Zonte is the quieter western sibling of El Tunco: a black-sand beach village with surf, simple places to eat, and a slower rhythm. It became internationally known through the Bitcoin Beach project, but the best reason to come is still the coast itself.
The wave attracts intermediate surfers, while non-surfers can walk the beach, watch the point, and settle into one of the small cafes. It is more relaxed than La Libertad's port and less party-driven than El Tunco, which is exactly its appeal.
