La Aurora International Airport (GUA) is in Zona 13, about 7 km from the Zona 1 historic centre and 4 km from the hotels in Zonas 9–10. It is the main international gateway for Guatemala, with direct flights from the US (Miami, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta), Mexico City, and several Central American cities. Uber is the most reliable way to get into the city from the airport — the metered taxi booths inside the terminal are the legitimate alternative.
Most travellers arriving by ground from Mexico come through the border at La Mesilla (to Huehuetenango) or Ciudad Hidalgo/Talismán. From the south, the main entry points are from El Salvador at Valle Nuevo or San Cristóbal. Long-distance buses from Mexico and the rest of Central America arrive at the Zona 4 bus terminal and at various private terminals in the city.
Shuttle services from Antigua run frequently and take about 1 hour. They are the most comfortable way to arrive from the main tourist base in Guatemala.
