Getting Around

San Pedro is small enough to walk entirely, though the terrain is steep — the town climbs sharply from the waterfront up toward the church and market. Almost everything travellers need is within fifteen minutes on foot from the docks.

Tuk-tuks are available for longer or steeper hauls within town and for the short ride to San Juan La Laguna along the lakeside road. Fares are low and should be agreed before you get in. Pickup trucks serve as informal buses on some routes. Between villages, shared lanchas connect San Pedro to Panajachel, Santiago Atitlán, and other lake towns throughout the day — boats run from the eastern dock from early morning until late afternoon.
