The Estadio General Francisco Morazán is one of San Pedro Sula's three football stadiums and the home ground of Real Club Deportivo España, one of Honduras's most successful and best-supported clubs. The stadium holds around 35,000 spectators and is named after the 19th-century Central American federalist hero Francisco Morazán.
Football is the primary entertainment in San Pedro Sula, and attending a Liga Nacional match at the Morazán — especially a derby against the other city team, Marathón — is one of the most vivid local experiences available. The atmosphere is loud, colourful, and passionate. Tickets are inexpensive by international standards and available at the stadium on match days. Check the Federación Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras schedule for fixtures.
