The National Gallery of Art of Honduras (Galería Nacional de Arte) occupies a handsome colonial building in the historic centre, a short walk from Parque Central. The collection covers Honduran and Central American art from pre-Columbian times through the 20th century, with particular strength in colonial-era religious paintings and sculpture, and in Honduran modernism.
The building itself — originally a colonial convent — is worth seeing. The courtyard and ground-floor galleries are well-maintained. It's an easy stop when exploring the historic centre, and rarely crowded. Check opening hours locally as they can vary.
