The Blue Hole — also known as Secret Falls — is a series of turquoise natural pools in the mountains south of Ocho Rios, fed by a waterfall that drops into a deep swimming hole. The water is a vivid blue-green, startlingly clear, and cold. You can jump from ledges into the pools, or simply swim. It is, despite its alternative name, no longer a secret: the site has become popular with tour operators, but the jungle setting keeps it feeling more natural than the falls at Ocho Rios itself.
Getting there requires a short hike through forest and crossing a river, usually with a local guide — tours are bookable in town, and most include transport from the cruise pier. Independent visitors can drive to the trailhead and hire a guide at the entrance. The water temperature is refreshing after the jungle walk, and the surrounding forest is green and dense. Allow two to three hours for the full excursion.
