The colonial centre around the Plaza de Armas is compact and walkable. Most of the historic sites — the cathedral, the government palace, the Museo Casa Juárez, La Pascualita — are within fifteen minutes on foot.
Taxis are the most practical transport for getting to outlying sites like the Francisco Villa Museum (Quinta Luz), which is a couple of kilometres south of the centre. The city has taxis and ride-hailing apps; agree a price before getting in unmetered cabs.
City buses are cheap but the network is confusing for visitors. For day trips to Creel and the Copper Canyon area you need El Chepe train or a long-distance bus from the Central de Autobuses.
