Gran Acuario Mazatlan is one of the city's strongest family attractions, focused on the marine life of the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific coast. Its newer facilities give Mazatlan something more substantial than a quick beach break, with tanks, educational exhibits, and spaces designed around regional ecosystems.
It sits away from the old centre but close enough to combine with the malecon or a beach day. The aquarium is especially useful in hot midday weather or when travelling with children, but adults with an interest in the gulf's wildlife will also get more from it than from many resort-zone diversions.
