By air. Mérida International Airport (IATA: MID), officially the Aeropuerto Internacional Manuel Crescencio Rejón, is about 8km southwest of the city centre. It handles direct flights from Mexico City, Cancún, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, as well as some US connections (Miami, Houston, Dallas). From Europe or most other international points, you will connect through Mexico City or Cancún. Taxis from the airport to the centre are fixed-rate; the journey takes 20–30 minutes.
From Cancún. The most common international arrival point for Yucatán visitors is Cancún Airport, 320km east of Mérida. ADO buses (Mexico's main long-distance bus company) run a direct, comfortable service from the Cancún airport bus terminal to Mérida's CAME bus station roughly every hour; the journey takes about four hours. This is significantly cheaper than flying into Mérida directly and works well if you are planning to see both the coast and the city.
By bus. Mérida's main bus station, CAME (Centro de Autobuses de Mérida), is on Calle 70 about six blocks west of the Plaza Mayor. ADO operates a comprehensive network covering Cancún, Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Campeche, Palenque, and most major Mexican cities. The ADO buses are air-conditioned, punctual, and a reliable way to travel the Yucatán. There are also second-class buses from the Noreste terminal on Calle 67 that serve smaller towns and villages more cheaply.
From Campeche. Campeche is 190km southwest, about 2.5 hours by ADO. The road passes through henequen territory and several historic haciendas.
