The Reloj Monumental stands in Plaza Independencia and gives Pachuca its most recognisable image. Built in 1910 for the centenary of Mexican independence, it is a tall stone clock tower with a copper dome, formal enough for a capital city but small enough to belong to the square around it.
Come here first. The plaza is a useful meeting point, the surrounding streets make an easy old-centre wander, and the clock gives you a quick sense of Pachuca's taste for civic monuments.
