Puerto Aventuras sits at the centre of the Riviera Maya's main attractions, making it an excellent base for day trips. Tulum is 40 minutes south by car; Cobá is another 45 minutes inland from Tulum through the jungle; and Playa del Carmen — with its beaches and ferry to Cozumel — is 20 minutes north. Akumal, just 5 km south, is famous for its resident sea turtle population (you can snorkel with them off the beach). The cenotes along the road between Tulum and Cobá — Gran Cenote and Cenote Azul in particular — are half-day outings you will not regret.
