San Blas is a fishing town and the seafood is the reason to eat here. The local specialty is pescado zarandeado — whole fish grilled over wood on a wire frame, marinated in chilli and spices — which originated in the Nayarit coastal towns. There are several simple restaurants around the main plaza and along the waterfront.
