When to Go

The dry season — roughly November to May — is the best time to visit. Water levels drop, the mineral concentration increases, and the famous turquoise colour of Agua Azul is at its most vivid. In the wet season (June–October), the falls run brown with sediment and swimming is usually prohibited.

The lowland setting means it is hot year-round. December and January bring slightly cooler temperatures and are the most comfortable months for walking between the falls. Avoid Semana Santa (Easter week) and Mexican school holidays when the waterfalls become very crowded.
