The second-largest pyramid at Uxmal, partially restored, with a broad staircase on the north face that visitors can climb to a summit temple with panoramic views over the entire archaeological zone. From the top, the relationship between the site's major buildings becomes clear: the Nunnery, the Pyramid of the Magician, the Governor's Palace, and the Ball Court are all visible, spread across the scrub forest that was once a Maya city of perhaps 25,000 people.
The summit temple has a well-preserved chamber with intact stone carvings. The climb is steep; the stone steps are high. Worth doing in the early morning before the heat becomes oppressive.
