Fort Orange

Small 17th-century Dutch fort and lighthouse at the south end of Kralendijk's waterfront.

Fort Orange is a compact Dutch fort at the southern end of Kralendijk's waterfront. Low ochre walls, surviving cannon, and the striped lighthouse form one of the town's most recognisable corners, though this is a brief outdoor stop rather than a large fort complex.

The site works best as part of a waterfront walk through Wilhelmina Square and past the old customs buildings. Government use can restrict entry to parts of the structure, but the exterior and harbour setting still make the detour worthwhile.
