When to Go

Bonaire is warm, sunny, and breezy throughout the year. It lies south of the main Atlantic hurricane belt, though no Caribbean island is immune to disrupted weather or rough water. Short showers are more common late in the year, and the dry landscape can look noticeably greener after rain.

The northern winter is busiest, with firmer prices and more competition for rental vehicles and restaurant tables. Late spring and early summer are quieter and often offer good diving conditions. Water temperature changes less than the wind and surface conditions, so divers should pay attention to local forecasts rather than a calendar promise of perfect visibility.

Two events can decide the timing. Dia di Rincon, around 30 April, is Bonaire's biggest cultural celebration and fills the village with music, food, and dance. The Bonaire Regatta, usually held in October, brings sailing and shore events to Kralendijk. Confirm dates before booking because programmes change from year to year.
