Deaverdura

A tiny lunch-only restaurant on Calle Sol that does a daily-changing buffet of Puerto Rican comfort food — usually six or seven options of stewed meats, rice, beans, plantain in various forms, and a couple of vegetable dishes. You pile a plate, the cook weighs it, you pay.

Deaverdura is where people who work in the old city actually eat lunch, and that is the point — no menus in English, no tourist pricing, just twelve or fifteen dollars for a generous plate of food cooked that morning. It opens around 11 AM and closes when the food runs out, usually by 3 PM.
