Sun Bay — Playa Sombé in Spanish — is the most accessible and most beautiful of the public beaches, a long arc of pale sand backed by coconut palms a five-minute drive east of Esperanza. The water is shallow, clear, and consistently calm, making it the default swimming beach for families and weekenders.
A small parking area, picnic tables, and a basic shower are about the only facilities. There are no beach bars, no rental loungers — bring your own water and shade. Cars drive on the sand at the eastern end where the palms thin out, which is more charming than it sounds.
