Bars and Cafes

The local beer is Piton, brewed at Vieux Fort and named after the volcanic peaks on the bottle, and you will find it everywhere. The local rum is Bounty or, at the top end, Chairman's Reserve, both made by St. Lucia Distillers a short drive south of town. Most bars stock both.

In the city itself, Pinky's off Bridge Street is a friendly old-school rum-shop that gets going after work. The bars around the Vigie Marina are more polished and look out over yachts and the harbour. Friday nights, the locals head out to Gros Islet for the famous street party — sound systems, fried fish, and rum stalls on a closed-off road — about thirty minutes north of the city.
