Things to Do

Castries does not have the architectural grandeur of older Caribbean capitals — too many fires have seen to that — but it has a busy working harbour, a Saturday market that fills the air with smoke and the smell of saltfish, and the green spine of the Vigie peninsula running out into the sea. A morning of strolling through the centre and out along the harbour is enough to take it in; the real sights of Saint Lucia are elsewhere on the island.
