Tobago’s beaches divide cleanly along the island’s two coasts. The leeward (Caribbean) coast has small sheltered bays with calm, transparent water and pale sand — ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The windward (Atlantic) coast has longer, more dramatic beaches with darker sand and occasional surf, less suitable for casual swimming but good for walking and beachcombing.
Water temperature stays between 26°C and 30°C year-round. Most beaches outside Crown Point are uncrowded even in high season, and the northern-coast beaches are often empty on weekdays.
