Nylon Pool

A shallow sandbar in the middle of the lagoon off Pigeon Point, with warm knee-deep water

The Nylon Pool is a shallow, sheltered sandbar sitting in the middle of the lagoon off Pigeon Point, accessible only by boat. The water is barely knee-deep over the white sand, perfectly clear and considerably warmer than the surrounding sea — the combination of shallowness and sun heating the sand gives it a bathtub quality that makes it feel impossible to be this far offshore. Local legend holds that bathing in the pool restores youth.

All glass-bottom boat tours from Pigeon Point and Store Bay stop here, and the pool becomes crowded with tourists around midday. Come on the first or last departure of the day for a quieter experience. The tour boats circle the Buccoo Reef before stopping at the pool, so you see the coral through the glass bottom before getting in the water. The whole excursion takes about two hours and costs around TT$80 per person.
