Governor's Beach, a kilometre south of central Cockburn Town in front of the official residence, is the best swimming beach within walking distance. Powder-fine sand, shallow turquoise water, casuarina trees for shade — the unfussy Caribbean ideal.
The beach is public, the parking is free, and there are picnic tables. On cruise days it can get busy with day-trippers from the SunRay terminal further south; for a quieter swim, come in the late afternoon after the ships have left.
