Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is a small but functional regional airport served by American, Delta, and United, with connections to Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Chicago, and a handful of other hubs. It sits about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of downtown. Most visitors flying from outside the South connect through Atlanta, which offers the most frequent onward service.
Driving is the practical alternative for anyone already in the region. Nashville is 100 miles (160 km) north on I-65 — roughly 90 minutes in normal traffic — making it a reasonable same-day drive. Birmingham is 90 miles (145 km) south. Chattanooga is 90 miles east. Atlanta is about 170 miles (275 km) southeast, typically 2.5 to 3 hours.
Greyhound serves Huntsville from several cities, and the terminal is reasonably central, but service is infrequent. There is no passenger rail to Huntsville.
