Harrison Brothers Hardware has been part of downtown Huntsville since the late 19th century, first as a family business and now as a preservation project of the Historic Huntsville Foundation. The store still faces South Side Square, where its counters, shelves, drawers, and old fixtures keep the feel of a working courthouse-square shop.
It is partly a store, partly a small history lesson. You can buy local crafts and gifts, but the real reason to stop is the survival of the place itself: a turn-of-the-century commercial interior in a city better known for rockets, engineers, and research parks.
