The Mount Roberts Tramway lifts visitors from the cruise ship docks at the bottom of Franklin Street to 1,800 feet above sea level in minutes, delivering views over the Gastineau Channel, Douglas Island, and the surrounding peaks that are hard to match. At the top there is a nature centre, restaurant, and gift shop, plus hiking trails that continue up into alpine terrain. The tram runs in summer only and can get crowded when cruise ships are in port — go early or late in the day.
