Perseverance Theatre is Juneau’s main professional theatre company and one of the few cultural institutions that gives visitors a live, local evening option beyond bars and cruise-oriented shows. Its productions often include Alaskan writers or themes alongside contemporary plays from elsewhere.
The theatre is in Douglas, across the channel from downtown Juneau, so check transport and curtain times before committing. When the schedule works, it is a good way to hear the city thinking aloud about itself: remote, political, artistic, and more complicated than the waterfront first appears.
