Buena Park

Orange County city known for Knott's Berry Farm and early Southern California theme-park history.

Buena Park is a city in northwestern Orange County, California, about 25 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. It is best known as the home of Knott's Berry Farm, one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States, which started as a real berry farm and roadside restaurant in the 1920s before growing into a full theme park. The park still serves its famous fried chicken in the original Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant.

The city sits in the flat suburban sprawl between Los Angeles and Anaheim, close to Disneyland, which makes it a practical base for families touring the region's theme parks. Beyond the parks, Buena Park has a thriving Korean restaurant scene along Beach Boulevard, a couple of survivors from its mid-century run as Orange County's "amusement zone" — Medieval Times and the Pirates Dinner Adventure — and one of the great pieces of southern Californian folk art in the Dreger Clock.
