East Beach stretches a kilometre from Stearns Wharf to the Andrée Clark Bird Refuge, with the Santa Barbara Zoo and the cemetery rising behind it. Wide, flat sand, gentle Pacific surf, and a bike-and-pedestrian path that runs along the waterfront. It is the most family-friendly of the city beaches — public volleyball courts, a snack bar, lifeguards, easy parking.
The Sunday Arts and Crafts Show runs along Cabrillo Boulevard at the back of the beach. Sunset here is one of the best free shows in town.
