Santa Barbara is a compact and walkable city with a Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style — the result of a strict building code established after a 1925 earthquake. The Mission is the obvious starting point, followed by a walk along the waterfront. The Santa Barbara Museum of Art on State Street is free on Sunday mornings. The Funk Zone, a few blocks from the beach, has wine tasting rooms and galleries in converted industrial buildings.
