The Fresno Blossom Trail is a 62-mile driving route through the stone-fruit and citrus orchards southeast of the city, best experienced from late February through March when the trees are in full flower. The route passes through the communities of Clovis, Sanger, Reedley, and Selma — the agricultural heartland of the San Joaquin Valley — with orchards of peach, almond, nectarine, plum, and cherry trees blooming in overlapping waves.
At peak bloom, the landscape is genuinely remarkable: mile after mile of pink, white, and crimson blossoms against the flat valley floor, with the Sierra Nevada snow-capped in the distance. Free trail maps are available from the Fresno County Farm Bureau, which coordinates the route. The trail is equally good on bicycle if you prefer a slower pace and want to stop at roadside stands for fresh fruit. The exact bloom timing varies by 2-3 weeks depending on the winter's rainfall and temperature; check the Fresno County Blossom Trail website in late January for current forecasts.
