The Warnors Theatre on Fulton Street is downtown Fresno's most spectacular surviving building — a 1928 movie palace with a terracotta facade and a Moorish-influenced interior that seats 2,200. The organ pit still holds the original Wurlitzer, occasionally played for special events. Walking through the lobby and into the main hall gives an immediate sense of what grand cinema-going meant in the 1920s.
Today the Warnors hosts concerts, comedy shows, film events, and live theatre. Check the programme before your visit; it is worth attending an event here for the experience of the space as much as the performance. The exterior on Fulton Street — now a pedestrian mall — is striking at night, when the marquee illuminates the block. The theatre is about 10 minutes' walk from the Meux Home and the water tower, making a natural circuit of downtown's most interesting architecture.
