Redlands eats better than the rest of the Inland Empire by a clear margin. The downtown around Orange Street and State Street has a cluster of independent restaurants — California-style cafes, decent Mexican, a couple of more ambitious dinner places — most within a five-minute walk of the Smiley Library. Prices are reasonable; reservations are useful on weekend evenings.
