Redlands has a Mediterranean-to-desert climate. Summer (June–September) is hot and dry — daytime highs in the high 30s°C are normal and 40°C is not unusual in July and August. The good news is that the Redlands Bowl summer concert series, the city's signature cultural event, runs through this season; evenings cool off into the 20s.
Spring and autumn are the reliable seasons: temperatures in the high teens to high 20s, the orange blossoms in February and March give the town its famous scent, and the mountains are clearly visible from anywhere in town. October weekends are particularly good for walking the historic neighbourhoods.
Winter (December–February) is mild — sunny days in the high teens, cool nights, occasional rain — and is the time of year when the San Bernardino mountains directly north of town are snow-capped. The contrast between palm trees in town and snow on the peaks is one of the more striking sights in Southern California.
