Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre

The Junior Seau Pier Amphitheatre is an outdoor entertainment venue at the foot of the Oceanside Pier, on the beach just south of the pier entrance. The amphitheatre hosts summer concerts, outdoor movies, and community events, and its position on the sand with the Pacific as backdrop makes it one of the more atmospheric outdoor venues in the San Diego area.

The venue is named after Oceanside's most famous athlete. On summer evenings the site comes alive with the kind of relaxed beach-town event culture that distinguishes Oceanside from its more resort-oriented neighbours to the south.

A story
The amphitheatre is named after Junior Seau, an Oceanside native who became one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, playing for the San Diego Chargers for most of his career. Seau died in 2012 and was posthumously inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015. His name is deeply associated with Oceanside — he grew up in the city's Samoan community and remained close to it throughout his career.
