Hotel La Rose

A 1907 stone hotel facing the Railroad Square station, the city's oldest surviving hotel.

Built in 1907 from the same Mark West basalt as the rest of Railroad Square, Hotel La Rose has been operating as a hotel almost continuously since it opened. We do not review hotels here, but the building is worth a look: a three-storey stone block with a wide veranda, immediately facing the SMART platforms. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the anchor of the Railroad Square historic district.

The ground-floor restaurant and bar are open to non-guests and make a convenient stop while exploring the antique shops nearby.
