The South Bay enjoys one of the most predictable climates in North America. Summer (June to September) is warm, dry, and reliably sunny, with daytime highs around 24-29°C and almost no rain. Winter (December to February) is mild and damp, with most of the year's rainfall in January and February. Snow is essentially unknown.
The apricot orchard at Heritage Park is at its prettiest in March, when the blossom is out. June and early July are the picking weeks for the orchard, when fruit is sold cheaply at the small farm shop. The annual Summer Festival on Murphy Avenue in July is the city's biggest public event.
