Sunnyvale punches well above its weight for food, thanks to one of the highest concentrations of east-Asian engineers in the country. Murphy Avenue downtown has a good run of mid-range restaurants. The El Camino Real corridor is the place for Indian food — Madras Cafe, Vaishnavi, and Rasoi are reliable favourites — and an excellent strip of Korean restaurants between Wolfe Road and Mary Avenue.
For coffee and brunch, look around the Murphy Avenue square. For Vietnamese, the strip-mall pho restaurants along El Camino are unflashy and excellent. Specifically: Madras Cafe for South Indian dosa, Dishdash for Mediterranean, and Doppio Zero for Neapolitan pizza.
