Boynton Beach sits at one of the best drift-diving spots on Florida's Atlantic coast. The Boynton Ledges — a system of parallel rocky outcroppings in 65 to 90 feet of water — sit close enough to shore that morning charters are back at the dock by noon. The Gulf Stream's proximity means fast drift dives, warm water (typically 78–84°F), and excellent visibility. You'll see nurse sharks, loggerhead turtles, goliath grouper, moray eels, and dense schools of reef fish on most dives.
Splashdown Divers, operating out of Boynton Harbor Marina on Lake Worth Road, runs daily two-tank charters and offers PADI instruction for all levels. Snorkeling trips also go out to the shallower portions of the reef, where staghorn and brain coral have recovered well since protective measures were put in place. Even if you are not a diver, a snorkel trip in calm conditions is worthwhile — the ledge starts in only 25 feet of water at its shallowest.
