The arts district immediately north of Atlantic Avenue along NE 2nd Avenue, named for the pineapple plantations that once stood here. Pineapple Grove is a low-key neighbourhood of galleries, design studios, a few good restaurants, and the Arts Garage — a non-profit theatre and music venue in a former municipal parking garage that programmes jazz, blues and small-scale theatre most nights of the week.
Walk the strip in the late afternoon, drop into a few galleries, and time your evening to a show at the Arts Garage. Quieter than Atlantic Avenue but with more interesting independent businesses.
