Silverball Retro Arcade

Half museum, half arcade, the Silverball is a generous warehouse of playable pinball and a few classic video machines on Atlantic Avenue near A1A. Unlike most pinball collections, everything is unlocked: pay the door fee (around $20 for unlimited play) and you can spend the afternoon working through Bally classics, Williams' golden-age tables, and modern Stern productions like Iron Maiden and Godzilla.

There is a small cafe selling burgers, beer, and milkshakes — drinks are allowed at the cabinets, which is part of the place's appeal. Weekends get crowded with families in the late afternoon; weekday mornings are quieter and a better time to play.

A story
The collection runs to over 200 machines spanning pinball history from the 1950s wedgeheads to the latest Stern releases. Most are kept in playing condition; you pay one flat admission and play unlimited games. Some of the rarest cabinets — a 1947 Humpty Dumpty, a working bingo-style machine from the 1960s — are not always set to play but are kept on display.
