Chef Creole

Long-running Haitian counter restaurant famous for griot, fried snapper, lambi conch, and rice with djon-djon mushrooms

Chef Creole on NW 54th Street has been Miami's reference point for Haitian food since 1995. The original Little Haiti location is a no-frills counter-service spot where the menu runs to griot (fried pork shoulder marinated in citrus), fried snapper served whole, lambi (conch stew), and rice with the black djon-djon mushroom that gives the grain its distinctive nutty flavour. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the queue at lunchtime tells you all you need to know.
